After retiring from teaching sixth grade, Susie began her adventure in art. She started in watercolor, but has branched out into most all media—her favorite now is oil. She and her husband, Larry, created an art center in Copperopolis where she organized and enjoyed classes from many excellent foothill artists over the last decade.
When it comes to art, she is always eager to try something new. Susie presents a wide variety and plethora of paintings, ranging from portraits to local landscapes. She is constantly working toward making art that is fresh and unrestricted. Taking great pleasure in painting with others, Susie teaches beginning oil and watercolor, and offers drop-in days to fellow artists at her home studio.
Susie has received numerous top awards in shows, including Best of Show at the 2019 Motherlode Art Association Show. She has judged several shows, most recently the 2021&22 Amador County Fair and Delicato Vineyard Show 2023. Her work has been published in several books, covers of art show programs and TV guides, and local newspapers.
