It’s as if Marylou Falstreau greeting card which reads, “One day she woke up and decided to color outside of the lines and her heart breathed such a sigh of relief” was created with me in mind. I framed this card, which one of my dearest friends gave me, and keep it close to my worktable in the art studio.
It was not until I began my inward exploration that I discovered the artistic side of myself. When I am working on a painting or working with clay, I am truly happy. The joy I experience as I breath life into a work is difficult to describe.
I have had no training and have learned everything by trial and error. Fortunately, there are several top-level polymer artists who have published helpful books which have served as excellent tutorials. Their thoughtful tips prevented me from giving up when I had become convinced, I would never master the techniques. I have been working with clay for two years now. I have translated some of my painting skills to this element and enjoy how I can layer and manipulate colors for amazing effects.
My life has been defined by studies, career, service, and advocacy. I have worked hard and have weathered many storms. I have done things that I did not always find pleasurable, and yet I endured, because it felt like the right thing to do. While I continue to work hard at my career, my free time is frequently filled with studio time, which adds such a wonderful element of balance into my hectic life.
Each piece is unique. Even when I try, I cannot do the same thing twice. Enjoy wearing and giving others these one-of-a-kind pieces.
