Barbara’s early days in art were spent copying cartoons from comic books and paint-by number paintings. She went on to win an Art Scholarship to Sacramento City College where she learned many good principals that have contributed to her continuing growth in art. Her paintings have won numerous awards.
Landscapes and old buildings have been her primary source of inspiration, sketching the scenes with ultra-fine pens while on location. Barb has worked in oil and acrylic, but watercolor is her medium of choice. “I try to capture the memory of a place by setting down textures, feelings, characteristics: the uniqueness and special quality of that place.”
Barb can be found around Sonora and outlying areas sketching and taking pictures of the many views and buildings of the Sierra with her three little doggies, Taco, Happy Burrito and Kristy Mae, all registered Therapy Dogs.
