Alexis Halstead’s work is inspired by the pottery of her Cheyenne roots, the Pueblo potters of northern New Mexico and Arts and Crafts designs of the early-twentieth century. Her work consists primarily of sculptural vessels: vases, pots and bowls.
Alexis holds a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute and an MBA from Golden Gate University. She attended ceramics classes at Columbia and has studied traditional Native American coil construction and techniques in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Her work has been on display locally at the George Post Gallery, the Tidewater Gallery in Stockton and at Columbia College. She participates in the annual Art Trails open studio event and welcomes visitors to her studio by appointment.
Alexis is a member of Tuolumne County Arts and the Mother Lode Artists Association.
